House candidates forum planned
Attend and submit questions

Five area chambers from northwest Michigan will partner with the TCBN for a candidates’ forum on October 15 – and we want your suggestions for questions!

The Benzie County, Leelanau Peninsula, Traverse City Area, Kalkaska County and Elk Rapids Area Chambers will host House of Representatives candidates from the 101st, 104th and 105th districts at the NMC’s Oleson Center.

A meet-and-greet with the candidates is scheduled for 6-7 p.m., followed by the forum from 7-9 p.m.

Ray Franz, Dan Scripps, Wayne Schmidt, Roman Grucz, Rep. Kevin Elsenheimer and Connie Saltonstall have been invited to the event. Jamie Callahan, senior vice president of government relations at the Traverse City Chamber, will moderate the forum. Questions will focus on business concerns, the economy, taxes, government regulation, tourism, agriculture and other topics of regional interest.

Callahan noted that with two of the three area House seats opening up due to term limits, it’s pivotal that voters understand the candidates’ views on critical business issues.
