Dawn Hemming, president of hemming& in Traverse City and affiliated with SagePoint Financial, recently attended Barron’s 10th Annual Top Women Advisors Summit in Palm Beach, Florida. The invitation-only event consisted of the Top 100 Women Financial Advisors, honored annually in Barron’s magazine, as well as a select group of 400 female advisors representing the top performers at participating firms.

Shannon Mallek has been promoted to the position of controller at Honor Bank. She has been with the bank since 2013, most recently in the role of portfolio manager.

Michelle King has been promoted to the position of BSA/CRA officer at Honor Bank. She has been with Honor Bank since 2014, serving as the BSA coordinator. Prior to coming to Honor Bank, she worked at PNC and Northwestern Bank.

The Larkin Group in Traverse City has announced the following personnel news:

Lindsey Gaudard has joined the agency as a support staff member. She has previous experience in education.

Mandi Mancilla has joined Larkin as a personal risk manager. She brings an insurance background from Hagerty and a sales background from Fletcher Jones Audi in Chicago.

Gretchen Mooney has joined Larkin as a claims associate. She is licensed in property/casualty, life and health insurance, and brings a background in business, management, and sales.

CONSTRUCTION/ENGINEERING

Douglas Hula has joined Gosling Czubak Engineering Sciences in Traverse City as a geotechnical engineer. He brings more than 17 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing.

Springfield, a commercial contractor in Kingsley, has announced the following personnel news:

Suzie Dunlap has been promoted to financial controller. She handles all payroll, billing, and financial reporting for the company. She has been a member of the Springfield team for more than 6 years.

Nick Jacqmain has been appointed president. He joined the Springfield team in 2009. As president, he works closely with CEO Terry Umlor to manage all corporate activity.

Jamie Scarlett has joined the company as accountant/team manager. Prior to joining Springfield, she worked as a seasonal employee at Plante Moran.

HEALTH CARE

Jamshid Amanzadeh, M.D., has joined Munson Medical Center, Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital and Kalkaska Memorial Health Center as a specialist in nephrology. He practices at Munson Nephrology Consultants in Traverse City.

Jelanie R. Bush, M.D., has joined Munson Medical Center as a board certified specialist in pediatrics. She practices at Grand Traverse Children’s Clinic in Traverse City.

Katherine R. Elms, M.D., has joined the staff of Munson Medical Center as a board certified specialist in pediatrics. Dr. Elms practices at Grand Traverse Children’s Clinic in Traverse City.

Traverse City dentist qDr. Phillip Yancho was recently inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists at its 86th Annual Convocation in Washington, D.C. The honor recognizes outstanding and meritorious service to the profession and community. Yancho has practiced in Traverse City since 1985.

LAW

George R. Thompson, attorney and shareholder at Thompson O’Neil in Traverse City, has been named 2015 Boss of the Year by the Grand Traverse Area Legal Professionals.

MARKETING

Stephanie Mathewson has joined Oryana Natural Foods Market in Traverse City as its marketing & communications manager. She brings nine years of experience in marketing, advertising and public relations. She will help coordinate the vision, messaging and communication of the events, marketing, outreach and education staff.

Marina Nieman Call has joined the National Writers Series as director of marketing. She is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies. She brings nearly 14 years of professional experience to the position, including marketing and social media development, product positioning, community outreach and event planning.

OTHER

Dave Barth of Ascomnorth in Acme recently attended the ICON Alcatel Lucent 2015 national business meeting in Columbus, Ohio. He has been certified by Alcatel Lucent for the full line of voice and data products, including hosted and VOIP telephone solutions.

Karrie Grant has been promoted to director of quality and strategic projects at Safety Net in Traverse City. She is responsible for continuous improvement throughout the company’s operations, working with staff members to help develop well-defined processes and thorough documentation to ensure excellent IT services for clients.

Ben Loznak has joined Cornwell Architects in Traverse City as an associate architect. His experience includes design and technical development of many architectural projects throughout the state of Michigan, including a wide variety of commercial projects, mixed-use development, health care facilities, higher education and retail.

Matt McCauley, director of strategic initiatives at Networks Northwest in Traverse City, has been elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). The association is an advocate for federal community and economic development programs and policies that help local communities improve their local economy and quality of life.

Pastor Chad Oyer was installed last month as the new lead pastor of First Congregational Church in Traverse City. Pastor Oyer comes to First Congregational from Birmingham United Methodist Church, where he served eight years as associate pastor.

Mary Stanton has been named director of Leelanau Christian Neighbors (LCN). For the past two years, she has served as LCN president. Four years ago, she founded LCN’s Blessings in a Backpack to help feed school children on weekends, and she continues to co-chair that program. Her extensive volunteer experience includes fundraising, building donor and volunteer bases, increasing public awareness, and managing LCN’s operations.

Katelyn Zeits, deputy city clerk for the City of Traverse City, was recently awarded the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. The designation recognizes her dedication to, and attainment of, advanced professional education and contribution to her profession.
