Dawn Hemming, president of Hemming& in Traverse City, was recently invited to speak and moderate at an Investment News conference in Dallas, Texas. Hemming represented the Women’s Advisory Board, a national initiative in the financial services industry to support and encourage women.

Betsy Hicks has joined Global Marine Insurance in Traverse City as director of broker operations/project manager. She brings more than 30 years of insurance experience, with 27 specifically in the marine insurance field. She manages the broker division of business, attracting new, qualified brokers and providing them with the tools to help clients.

Beth McCardel of the Larkin Group in Traverse City recently completed the certified risk managers (CRM) designation, recognizing knowledge in all areas of managing risks, hazards, and exposures and a commitment to excellence. She also holds designations as a certified insurance counselor, chartered property and casualty underwriter and certified insurance services representative.

Matt Powis has been promoted to vice president, finance for Corporate Settlement Solutions (CSS) in Traverse City. He joined CSS in 2015, bringing more than 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management.

Kevin Youngs is the new vice president sales executive at HUB International, working out of the Traverse City office.

4Front Credit Union has announced the following additions to its business services and branch management/lending groups:

Kent Nordin is the new branch manager/loan officer at 4Front’s new 101 North Park Street office in downtown Traverse City. He previously served in the same capacity at the credit union’s Hastings Street location. Nordin’s experience in the financial services industry spans more than 13 years.

Geoff Streit has been appointed vice president of commercial lending. He offers the institution’s business members more than 10 years of banking and commercial lending experience.

Amber Winans is the new branch manager/loan officer at 4Front’s Hastings Street location in Traverse City. She brings more than nine years of consumer banking expertise and service to the role.

Tracey Zywicki is vice president of treasury management. She brings 15 years of treasury management experience to the position.

HEALTH CARE

Jennifer K. Coleman, executive director of Grand Traverse Radiologists, recently received the prestigious Calhoun Award at the 2016 Radiology Business Management Association’s Radiology Summit in Colorado Springs, Colo. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to radiology business management. She is celebrating 10 years with the organization.

J. Hershey, DDS has joined Associates in Family Dentistry in Traverse City as an associate dentist. Dr. Hershey is a second-generation dentist, following in the footsteps of his father and uncle who were endodontists in the Lansing area.

Andrew C. Luea, D.O. has joined the staff of Munson Medical Center as a board-certified specialist in urology. Dr. Luea practices at Bay Area Urology in Traverse City.

Mark D. Richardson, M.D. has joined West Front Primary Care in Traverse City. He recently relocated to Traverse City after 23 years as a family practitioner in Marshall, Mich. He treats patients of all ages, and is particularly skilled in assisting with end-of-life health care.

REAL ESTATE

Shannon Beia has joined Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors as a realtor. She is based out of the  522 East Front Street office in Traverse City. Beia has 17 years of real estate experience as an active partner of GT Properties LLC, TC Development and Olde Town Properties. She also has a sales and marketing background, which she has utilized in the renovation and management of multiple commercial and residential properties in downtown Traverse City and the surrounding area.

Jennifer Edson has joined the real estate team at EXIT Realty Paramount in Traverse City. She is a Traverse City native and lifelong resident.

Ken Schmidt, CEO of the Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies in Traverse City, has earned the certified international property specialist (CIPS) designation, placing him among 2,500 elite real estate professionals worldwide. As a designee, Schmidt can efficiently work with all international buyers, including U.S. residents looking to invest overseas, foreign buyers purchasing in the United States, as well as recent immigrants who might be unfamiliar with real estate transaction practices in the United States.

Ted Schweitzer was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award by Real Estate One in Traverse City in recognition of personal stewardship through volunteering for community charities and in acknowledgement of community leadership and industry achievements.

Dave Barth of Ascomnorth in Acme recently attended the ICON Alcatel Lucent 2016 National Business Meeting in Naperville, Ill. He has been certified by Alcatel Lucent for the full line of voice and data products, including hosted and VOIP telephone solutions.

Brian Burkley is the new director of food & beverage at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. Burkley brings more than 36 years of experience to his role overseeing all food and beverage facilities, restaurants, outlets, and operations. Most recently he was director of food and beverage at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, W. Va.

Peter Dahlgren, a licensed professional engineer, has joined Global Environmental Engineering in Traverse City as a senior project manager focusing on environmental compliance and hazardous waste management. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the environmental field to his new position.

Susan Ling has joined the Traverse City Golf & Country Club as its membership and marketing director. She brings more than 30 years of professional experience in a variety of industries and since moving to the area in 2005 has focused her career in the hospitality industry.

Chris Rigan of the Adam Kay Group in Traverse City has received the designation of certified personnel consultant (CPC). The Adam Kay Group partners with clients in the executive recruiting and HR consulting arenas, both on a local and national level. The CPC is the only national designation recognized globally by the personnel services and staffing industry.

William Siegmund, managing director of Pure Water Works in Traverse City, has been appointed to a committee working on water quality issues. The committee will meet in Washington to discuss filtration options to reduce contaminants including lead, copper, volatile organic chemicals and pharmaceuticals in the water supply.

Mike Thomas has joined Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling in Traverse City as operations manager. He has previous experience as an operations manager and 18 years of experience in the construction industry. Thomas is responsible for overseeing operations of the office staff, field staff, as well as subcontractors. He will also provide project management, estimating, and business development support.

Cole Thornton has joined the culinary staff at Black Star Farms in Suttons Bay as executive chef. Most recently he was the executive chef at The Hagerty Center in Traverse City and also taught culinary classes through Northwestern Michigan College’s Extended Education program.

Shoreline Fruit has announced the following personnel news at its headquarters in Traverse City and its production and storage facility in Williamsburg:

Kori Jackson has been promoted to controller. She manages and supports the tax, financial operations and budgeting functions for the entire company. She joined Shoreline in 2010 and has held numerous financial positions.

Stephanie Walton has been promoted to the new position of account manager in the Shoreline Fruit sales department. She joined Shoreline in October of 2011 as a sales assistant.

Kristen Moravcik has expanded her role as sales assistant into the new position of digital marketing specialist. She is responsible for Shoreline Fruit’s internet advertising and social media marketing. She joined Shoreline in 2011.

Megan Miller has joined the company as a sales assistant.

Charlene Bowen has been hired for the new position of director of human resources and organizational development.

Natalie Rau is the new director of quality assurance and research & development.
