Doug Mansfield, supervisor of Union Township in Grand Traverse County, has been elected president of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). He brings to his new position an extensive background in planning and land use as president of Mansfield Land Use Consultants. His experience in local government began more than 20 years ago. Mansfield has served on the MTA Board of Directors since 2005.
Norma Corwin has been named to the mortgage lending team at State Savings Bank in Frankfort. She brings more than 13 years of banking experience to her new position. She previously served as a mortgage processor at the bank.
Meghan Elliott was recently honored as TBA Credit Union’s 2015 Employee of the Year. She serves the credit union as the branch manager of the Front Street location in Traverse City. Candidates for the Employee of the Year award are nominated by peers and chosen based on team cooperation, attitude, community involvement and leadership.
Diana Harris has joined the Traverse City office of Peterson McGregor and Associates in its benefits department. She brings five years of experience in human resources/employee benefits/recruitment and more than 15 years in general office administration to her new position.
Dawn Hemming, president of hemming& in Traverse City, recently attended SagePoint Financial’s 2016 Leaders Summit. SagePoint Financial annually invites the Top 100 producing advisors from across the country to discuss best practices with their peers. Hemming moderated a discussion on business planning with advisor business intelligence.
Jason Idziak, a vice president and financial advisor in Morgan Stanley’s wealth management office in Traverse City, has attained the firm’s Family Wealth Advisor (FWA) designation. Idziak has been a member of the financial services industry for 13 years.
Jim Mellinger, a Traverse City financial advisor for Edward Jones, recently met with legislators in Washington, D.C., to seek legislation to increase savings and enhance retirement security. Mellinger is a member of the firm’s Grassroots Task Force.
John Paul, former president and CEO of The Bank of Northern Michigan, has joined the Traverse City Community Bank Board of Directors for Chemical Bank. Before retiring in 2015, Paul had a banking career spanning nearly 40 years.

Deb Oetjens Jackson has been appointed to the Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation board of directors. She is charged with securing support for endowment and annual giving funds, memorials, tributes, charitable gift annuities, special events, and the campaign to bring PACE, Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, to the region.
Elizabeth Sonnabend has joined the Grand Traverse Pavilions marketing department as community relations assistant. She assists with marketing communications, community outreach and volunteer engagement and coordination. She brings 18 years of marketing experience to her new position.

The MAI membership designation is held by appraisers who are experienced in the valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential and other types of properties, and who advise clients on real estate investment decisions.

First Class Operations Specialist (OS1) Thomas Davis was recently nominated as Air Station Traverse City Enlisted Person of the Year and was further selected as the District 9 Enlisted Person of the Year for the Great Lakes region. He will now be competing against all the other nominees from other units throughout the Coast Guard.
Heather Jamison has joined the GFA engineering group in Traverse City as a project manager specializing in roadway and transportation projects. She brings nearly 15 years of project management experience from public sector work. She previously worked as manager and engineer for the Benzie County Road Commission and as the county highway engineer for the Grand Traverse County Road Commission.
Jason A. Juilleret has joined the surveying department at GFA in Traverse City as a project manager. He brings more than 12 years of surveying experience, including construction layout and staking, mapping GPS, cellular towers and more, and is an experienced survey professional on oil and gas projects.
Gerald Lira, a member of the surveying department at Inland Seas Engineering in Traverse City, recently passed the National Society of Professional Surveyors Level III Survey Technician exam. This exam covers work elements such as field instruments, computations, horizontal and vertical control, plan reading, safety and field operations.
Sam Sherwood is the new head brewer at Right Brain Brewery in Traverse City. Sherwood brings more than 15 years of production brewing experience to his new role. He began his brewing career in 2000 at Michigan Brewing Company. He also has held brewing positions at Traverse Brewing Company, Bravo Zulu, Perrin, Arcadia, Walldorff, and Founders.
