Latin American flavors coming to Union Street

The guys who brought Blue Tractor Cook Shop to Olde Towne in the summer of '06 will open its next-door neighbor, Café Habana, this spring. Traverse City natives Jon Carlson and Greg Lobdell will expand the Blue Tractor building on its north side to house the Latin American-inspired Café Habana.

"We've incorporated many traditional Cuban dishes, as well as many other favorites from around Latin America," Lobdell said.

The restaurant and bar will seat 110 people and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. During the summer, two large sliding doors will open to create an open-air café setting.

"We have had great success developing two complementary restaurant concepts adjacent to one another and this is the perfect opportunity for us to do it again," Lobdell added.

The duo have already opened Café Habana restaurants in Ann Arbor and Royal Oak and will be opening a Blue Tractor in Ann Arbor next year. Blue Tractor will continue as a separate restaurant concept.

Lobdell and Carlson also own North Peak Brewing Company and Kilkenny's Irish Public House downtown and Bowers Harbor Inn and The Bowery on Old Mission Peninsula. BN
