New cafe will feature desserts, breakfast items
TRAVERSE CITY – The owners of the Dairy Queen franchise in the Grand Traverse Mall plan to open the Coffee Bean Café in mid-March in the new strip mall being developed by the owners of Francisco's Market & Deli on Silver Lake Road.
The mall will house five tenants, including Francisco's, which will double in size.
Coffee Bean Café owners Tom and Jill Gibler will carry high-end desserts, chocolates and breakfast foods-such as cinnamon rolls, bagels, granola bars, low-fat yogurt, smoothies and fresh fruits-as well as breads from Bay Bread Co. in Traverse City, a signature blend from Great Northern Roasting Co., teas from By the Light of Day tea company and ice cream from Moomers. They won't be selling lunch items, however, as deli items, pizzas, seafood and vegetables will be sold by Francisco's in their new location.
The Giblers hope the 25-seat café will become a destination location where people will come to enjoy their amenities, which include a fireplace, waterfall, Wi-Fi, art by consignment artists and jazz performers during the summer.
Jason and Jim Francisco own the market with their dad, Jerry. When they open their 3,600 square-foot store in the strip mall later this month, they plan to feature the "largest cooler in the north" with close to 30 doors. As of mid-February, two units in the development were still available.
