Resort names new GM

ACME – Paul J. McCormick has been promoted to vice president and general manager of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The announcement was made by Scott Dalecio, president of KSL Resorts, a division of KSL Recreation Corp., which owns and operates the resort.

Irving Kass, the resort’s vice president and general manager since August of ’97, plans to return to Miami, where he lived before moving to Michigan three years ago.

Despite rumors that two different parties are looking at buying it, the resort is not for sale, resort officials said. When asked about reports that the resort had laid off some employees in the golf and grounds departments, PR director Mike DeAgostino responded: “Some staff changes are happening and the resort is reconfiguring certain departments to reflect the highly-seasonal nature of this business. It’s not surprising this time of year to have changes in staff.”

McCormick has been an executive with the resort for over two years. He joined the resort as Director of Rooms in May of 1998 and was promoted to Director of Operations last March. At that time his scope of responsibility expanded from the Rooms, Spa and Retail divisions, to include the Food & Beverage and Golf divisions. BN
