Newsmakers: People On The Move

APPOINTMENTS

P-Megan Crandall, a trustee on the Traverse City Area Public Schools Board of Education, has been appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder’s office to serve on the newly- formed Local Community Stabilization Authority Council. The five-member council is responsible for distributing personal property tax replacement revenue to municipalities. Her term expires Sept. 2017.

Jill Porter, assistant director for public service for the Traverse Area District Library, was appointed to serve as a jury member for the Upstart Innovation Award, presented at the recent American Library Association annual conference. Established in 1996, the award recognizes a public library’s innovative and creative service programs to the community it serves.

P-Rev. Jeremy D. Spence is the new senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Traverse City. He replaces Rev. Tom Mansfield, who retired in June 2013 after nearly 26 years at the church. Rev. Spence is an ordained American Baptist Church pastor and has more than 14 years of ministerial experience.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

P-Lisa Blasko has joined the commercial department of Peterson McGregor & Associates in Traverse City as a marketing representative. She brings more than 22 years of experience in the insurance industry and has worked at the company for two years.

P-Amber Boylan has joined the employee benefits department at Peterson McGregor & Associates in Traverse City. She is licensed in life and health insurance and specializes in individual and new group business. She first joined the company a year ago.

P-Joseph Carpenter has joined the team at Hantz Financial Services in Traverse City working as a financial consultant and home and auto insurance specialist. He brings one year of prior experience working for a hedge fund out of Suttons Bay as an intern and research associate.

P-Derrel Kent has been appointed a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual in Traverse City. He provides guidance and innovative solutions for a variety of financial needs and goals.

Michelle McManus has joined the commercial lending department at Honor Bank. Based in the Grand Traverse County market, she is responsible for commercial loan origination, business development and community outreach. McManus previously worked for Fifth Third Bank.

HEALTH CARE

P-Todd L. Galdes, DO has joined Great Lakes Orthopaedic Center in Traverse City as one of thirteen specialized orthopaedic surgeons. Along with primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, Dr. Galdes specializes in general orthopaedics and pediatric fracture care.

P-Nicole Gunn, M.D. has joined the staff of Munson Medical Center as a specialist in rheumatology. Dr. Gunn practices at Munson Rheumatology in Traverse City.

P-Sheree Jamrog has joined Living Light Massage in Traverse City as a massage therapist. She has been practicing massage therapy and bodywork for five years. She specializes in relaxation, deep tissue, sports, Somatic Polarity Therapy and medical massage.

P-Bonnie King, R.N. is celebrating five years of service and care with Digestive Health Associates in Traverse City. She is assigned to the phone nurse triage team serving as patient coordinator and advocate.

P-Shannon Moeggenborg has joined Digestive Health Associates of Northern Michigan as a nurse practitioner. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she had more than 17 years of health care experience as a registered nurse and a paramedic at Munson.

P-Keary E. O’Connor, D.O. has joined the staff of Munson Medical Center as a specialist in family medicine. Dr. O’Connor practices at Partners in Family Practice in Traverse City.

LAW

P-Joseph E. Quandt of Kuhn Rogers, PLC has been named to this year’s U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Lawyers in America” in the area of environmental law and litigation. This is Quandt’s fifth consecutive year to be honored.

P-Jessica Schimpf has joined Revision Legal in Traverse City as a paralegal. She brings expertise in a wide array of law.

P-Amy VanderMeer has joined Revision Legal in Traverse City, focusing on business development and assisting the firm’s attorneys.

REAL ESTATE

P-Fred Bright has returned to Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors on Front Street as a realtor. He has been an agent since 1987 and a consistent multi-million dollar producer.

P-Matt Case has been promoted to regional vice president for the Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies North Region. He works with the managers of the company’s 27 offices in northern lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula to assist them in their growth. Case has been with the company for 16 years and is based in Traverse City.

P-Anne Schwartz has joined RE/MAX Bayshore Properties as a sales associate working from the brokerage’s Union Street office. She has been a licensed sales agent in the real estate industry for eight years and has assisted clients in the Grand Traverse area with buying and selling homes.

P-Diana Shattuck has joined Riverside Title in Elk Rapids as director of marketing. She has been involved in real estate since 2002 in both Florida and Michigan. She brings more than eight years of marketing experience in northern Michigan to Riverside Title.

MARKETING & SALES

P-Sheila Peek is the new membership sales representative for the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. She joins the chamber after a 22-year career as a print and digital media consultant for Hibu, formerly YellowBook. She heads up the Chamber’s recruitment and retention efforts and also works with the newly formed Chamber Ambassadors group.

P-Brian Kidner is the new northern Michigan sales representative for Flier’s Quality Water Systems. He has worked in water purification for more than 10 years and recently relocated to Traverse City to serve local clients.

P-Sarah LaRosa has joined Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling of Northwest Michigan as the company’s new marketing representative. LaRosa is responsible for marketing, business development, customer service and advertising along with sharing Paul Davis’ emergency mitigation, restoration and remodeling services with insurance agents, insurance adjusters and property owners.

P-Hannah Rejc has joined Stardust Memorials and Reflections Urns & Memorials in Traverse City as a customer service representative and inventory manager. She brings a background in the funeral industry.

OTHER

P-Brad Bickle has joined Tim Lamb Group as director of the North Central region, encompassing Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin with office locations in Detroit and Traverse City. Tim Lamb Group is a leader in dealership sales, acquisitions and mergers. Bickle brings 30 years of dealership retail and automotive manufacturers experience.

P-Emily Johnson, a hair stylist at Salon Verve in Traverse City, has completed courses with Organic Salon Systems and is now a certified organic hair colorist. She has been in the beauty business since 2009.

Byron Kuenzer of Gosling Czubak in Traverse City is retiring after 40 years with the company.

P-Brittney Sommerville, a hair stylist at Salon Verve in Traverse City, has completed courses with Organic Salon Systems and is now a certified organic hair colorist.

P-Drew Perry has been named winemaker at Bonobo Winery on the Old Mission Peninsula. He comes to Bonobo after seven years as assistant winemaker at Left Foot Charley in Traverse City. There he was instrumental in all facets of winemaking for approximate 15,000-case production.

P-Kara VanHorn has been promoted to women’s buyer and women’s clothing manager at Ella’s in downtown Traverse City. She brings a background in apparel and textile merchandising.
