Phillips moves, changes name

TRAVERSE CITY – After selling, installing and servicing hot tubs, fireplaces, billiards and accessories for over 20 years, Phillips Energy Inc. will be closing both its Grand Traverse Mall and South Airport showrooms and moving to the old ABC Warehouse building near Sam's Club.

"The new location will give us about 13,000 square feet of showroom," said Rick Phillips, president of Phillips Energy, Inc. "All our major brands, including Jacuzzi, Heat & Glo, Quadra-Fire and Brunswick, are pitching in to help us with floor plans, as well as providing the latest in products and displays."

It will also roll out a new name, "Phillips Lifestyles," and a new logo.

"The new name and logo better identify our products and the deliberate choice customers make when shopping our stores," said Phillips. "The new name also eliminates the confusion we've been hearing among customers who thought Phillips Energy was a utility or some other energy-related company."

The "swirl" in the new logo represents their product lines, the swirl of water in a hot tub, the swirl of smoke rising from a fire and the swirl of billiard balls across a table.

Phillips expects it will take at least until June to remodel the old ABC Warehouse building. In the interim, they'll be selling off over $500,000 worth of inventory at the two Traverse City locations; www.phillipsenergy.com.
